QUOTESHere you will find a selection of some of the comments people E-mailed me about my speech before I had a web-site:"David provides an important message for high schools students about self motivation and dealing with the challenges of life." ---Ed Goerzen, Vice Principal, Thorold Secondary School, Oct. 22, 2009 "It was the wake up call that I needed!" ---Teresa Stott, Westminster College, University of Western Ontario, Feb. 5, 2000 Types of Motivational Speakers: Boring Speakers. Ranting Speakers. My Way or the Highway Speakers. And then...theres David MajorThe best speaker Ive EVER Heard!! ---Amanda, SADD Alberta Provincial Conference 2005 "At McMaster University's 2005 Take Our Kids to Work day, David Major managed to do the (nearly) impossible. Keep over 100 Grade 9 students focused for one hour on his presentation! Not only did they pay attention, they were engaged, interactive and clearly having a good time. We asked our Grade nine guests to rate David's keynote address on a scale of one to ten. Received high "marks" ranging from 8 to "infinite" (as one student put it). He clearly played an integral part of making our 2005 event our most successful to date." ---Susan Mitchell, Managing Partner - Working at McMaster - Organization Performance, Nov. 2, 2005 "Hi David, I saw you speak at the Provincial Student Leadership Conference in Newfoundland. I want to thank you for motivating the students the way you did. Out of all the motivational speakers I have seen, you are the only one to affect the students the way I saw at the PSLC. You reached the students in a way totally unlike any other. You energized them and made them think about things that will for sure change their lives. My students are still talking about your speech and they cannot wait to have you visit our school!" ---Jennifer Stanley, teacher, Newfoundland Provincial Student Council Conference 2005 Hey, I thought that I would leave you a warm and fuzzy to make you feel well...warm and fuzzy..I loved your speech today as probably many other people did..and you are VERY talented with the arm pits! lol thanks again KEEP INSPIRING!!" ---Brianne Clark, Georgian College 2005 "I think that David is an awesome speaker. I got the opportunity to hear him speak at the HOBY NYE 2003 seminar and I am very greatful to have gotten a chance to hear him speak. If you ever have the opportunity to hear David speak don't miss out on it because you will surely regret it...I went into the room thinking oh great another old guy that is going to bore us for the next hour or so and I left thinking that can't be it I am not done listening and laughing and that was incredible...It wasn't typical it left everyone laughing a lot and learning even more. He is just very down to earth and can really relate to us teenagers which makes it easy to understand him." ---Leah, HOBY New York East, May 2003 "My compliments go out to you and your speaches. You're amazingly motivational and I can't wait to talk to you again sometime!" ---Nikki, Eastern Ontario Leadership Seminar, May 2004 "Wooo-HOOOOOO for David Major. I had the pleasure of hearing Dave's motivational speech at the HOBY NYE 2003 conference. Yet not only did he speak to us. He got to know us! He ate with us! And we still talk today. David Major is not only an excellent and affordable speaker, he's an invaluable friend." ---Patti, HOBY New York East, May 2003 "This dude was nuts! David was one of the highlights of our HOBY program. We'd give anything to have him back again next year." ---Mike Hyzdu, Staff, HOBY Ohio South, May 2004 "I saw you speak at my school. Anyways, I hope that my students take what you said and use it because everything you said are the ideals and philosophy that I hold in my heart. Thank you for coming to our school! :-)" ---Jennifer, Gr. 6 Teacher, Salmon River Central School, August 2004 "Hey! I saw you at HOBY in Granville at Denison, and you were one of the best speakers we had there, in my opinion! The energy in your speach was incredible, and you made listening actually enjoyable! Thanks for the lessons I learned from your speach, and hopefully I can get you scheduled to speak at my school as well!" ---Anna, HOBY Ohio South, May 2004 "Hey! I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your speech. It was amazing. When I first heard we were having a motivational speaker I was like, "well it might be ok", but oh my gosh! You were so great! You were funny and outgoing. I didn't feel like I was listening to a lecture and in fact didn't realize all the important things you said until I thought about it but that is a good thing. I liked learning in that way. It was interesting and grabbed all of our attention! I hope I can hear you again someday." ---Kirby, HOBY Ohio South, May 2004 "Hey david! always a pleasure to see you speak! you do an awesome job reaching out to today's youth!" ---Monika, HOBY New York West, 2002-2004 "I want to say that when i saw your motivational seminar at HOBY earlier this month, i was so impressed. Before I even sat down to watch it, you couldn't even imagine how many people told me how amazing u r(jc's). well, it was really that great. U have the talent to incorporate certain ideas and interests in a form that is entertaining and effective. The topics you had brought up were thought MOTIVATING and now I realize the steps and determination needed to reach ones own goal.. I want to thank you for that." ---Andrea, HOBY New York West, 2004 "Dave, I can't thank you enough for your appearance at Westmin Residence in September 2002. It left those first year students inspired and motivated to get involved with their residence and campus community. It also had them speaking highly of you to their peers who chose to sleep in, instead of watch!" ---Natalie Persaud, Westminster College Head Soph, University of Western Ontario, September 2002 "Hey. . . It's been over year since I heard you speak, yet your words have stuck with me. Thank you for REALLY being a motivational speaker, and I too hope that the world hears and learns your message. :-) :D" ---Dierre Upshaw, HOBY Ohio North, May 2002 & 2004 "Hey david your speech was amazing at eols 2004 (woooo!!!)you have some pretty powerful stuff to say and the whole world should hear it." ---Shannon, Eastern Ontario Leadership Seminar, May 2004 "I heard you speak at the 2004 Western PA Youth Leadership Seminar last spring. I think you are the best speaker I have ever seen! I think it is great how you use humor to relate to the important things that are going on in our lives...I think my friends, fellow students, and teachers would find you funny and inspirational as I know I did. I also think that you are the kind of speaker who many of my classmates would find helpful and that they really would carry away very important pieces of information and advice after they heard you speak. " ---Celia, Western Pennsylvania Youth Leadership Seminar, May 2004 It is so cool working with you on this. I have complete confidence that you can work with the younger kids. They are in so much need of fun and motivation. You can gear your message to them.....I know you can. ---Pat Burke (HOBY NY-West 2002) I want to book you as our speaker, just becauseyou're young, and you can better relate to the kids. ---Mandip Hallan You incorporated personal experience with general terms so that everyone really got what you were saying. You touched each of our hearts and made the biggest difference. You are not only an inspiration, but also an incredible person. ---Mellisa Zelsman (Westmount Leaadership Conference 1999) YOU ARE my memory of my first conference. ---Danielle Soul (LOTTO '98) By you coming out today made me feel that I need to start changing today, instead of sitting around waiting for things to change on there own. You are great at what you do and not very often do you see someone your age with so much energy helping people. Usually the speakers are older and talking about how when they were are age and...etc. ---Student @ General Amherst (2002) Your 'seminar' was amazing and I liked the armpit farting touch! ---Jaymie Kulger (COLS) Your words were not only inspiring but reassuring, and it was nice to see someone my age, making such a difference. We had an ambassador in my group who hadn't spoken all day on Friday and practically at all on Sat., but after your speech he came up to me and said, "That was the best speech all weekend....."... and from that point on he was a completely changed personality. ---Amanda Neill (HOBY NY-West 2002) We had 1 motivational speaker who came to opening ceremonies. Everyone was going crazy for him and there was a sea of kids around him for quite some time after his speech. As I was leaving the auditorium I spotted a few other kids from New York East (there were close to 10 of us that were there ), and we all just kind of shook our heads. This guy didn't come close to you! All the other HOBY people from across the country and around the world had no idea what they had missed out on! ---Barbara McCall (After attending the HOBY World Leadership Conference 2003) I was truly inspired after your speech and I can't help but laugh and smile thinking of your effective and enthusiastic personality. Your perspective and viewpoints have truly changed me in ways that couldn't possibly be explained. ---Ross Jandrew (HOBY NY-West 2002) You are a representative and ambassador to Western and Westmin, which is much more of an impact and influence to the first years of 2K3 then any other student. ---Natalie Persaud (Westminster College 2001) For many of them you were the highlight of their day! We received nothing but positive comments from the delegates...you were great! ---Stefania Sdao (Woodbridge College 2002) I was extremely surprised and impressed with everything you said. Your great at what you do and its evident you love it! ---YRSAC Delegate 2003 your talk was great! i just wanted to take this time to thank you for coming to CLAY this year, i know that other conferences were rallying for your time, we loved you! ---Kasey Coholan (CLAY Conference Chair 2003) thank you so much for giving up your time to come to the seminar!!! It was great having you there and it was a nice to have a speaker who could relate to the ambassadors!! ---Chad Lively (HOBY Ohio-North Junior Staff) Just a quick note to tell you that your were a smash hit in Pennsylvania. We will be meeting in July to set the date for next year's seminar nad I will be in touch at that time so that you can put us on your schedule. You are a keeper! ---Robin Jennings (Western PA Conference Chair 2003) Your ability to communicate with the ambassadors the essentials of seeking within themselves the drive and determination to lead not only others but primarily themselves was a crucial component of the weekend. ---Peter Brodie (HOBY NY-WEST Alumni 2003) You were truly my favorite speaker and are the coolest canadian i know! You have such an amazing talent and i hope you keep doing what you're doing. You inspiried me to go out into the world to help others with my talents. I hope I can hear you speak again in the future." ---Allie Otto (HOBY NY-METRO Ambassador 2003) Your 'speech' (if you can even call it that, I'm not sure haha) was one of the highlights of the whole seminar for me. ---Clair Collins (Western PA Ambassador 2004) You speak to the kids like you totally understand us.... you must, and you can relate to us through everything we are going through.. highschool or even growing up is not easy, and you tell everyone that you're not alone. ---Kelly Cohen (NYE Ambassador 2003) I thought you were an awesome speaker. I have never seen any other speaker who acts or speaks like you. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, I think it's great that you can laugh at yourself. I am actually interested in being a motivated speaker and you inspired me. ---Sashia Baldwin (Washington County Youth Leadership Seminar 2004) I can only imagine how touched you feel inside to know that you have changes the lives of many people, and will probably change many more lives. ---Brittany Davidson (Washington County Youth Leadership Seminar 2004) I just wanted to end this by saying that ur an awesome guy, and u've inspired me a lot, and I loved ur presentation, cuz me myself, I love humour!!!!!! UR GREAT, KEEP UP THE GOOD JOB!!!!! ---Naureen Naque (Canadian Youth Against Impaired Driving 2004) I was really touched by your words of encouragement, and I was inspired. After I returned to school, I found myself always remembering little words of encouragement, when I was down, or whatever. And I think what you do is great. I hope you continue to do speeches and inspire kids everywhere. Thanks for the great experience. ---Central Ontario Leadership Seminar 2004 Attendee |
